SAFE-AGT has recently appointed Mr Syed Mashruk, PhD Candidate, as Research Assistant. He completed his BEng degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering with 1st class hons. from the University of Hertfordshire in 2011. He then completed his MSc in Thermal Power, specialising in Gas Turbine Technology in 2014 from Cranfield University with a scholarship from Rolls-Royce. After completing his Masters, he received funding from Cardiff University in 2015 to conduct his PhD research by implementing novel laser diagnostics methods to capture different species (NO, OH, CO etc.) formation in various flames. As a Research Assistant in SAFE he is looking at different species formations in ammonia-hydrogen flames to achieve safe and efficient power generation with alternative fuels with low emissions.
Mr Syed Mashruk's expertise on Laser Diagnostics will be essential to reach the highest potential of our Sirah DYE laser, PIV Dantec System and LDA Flowlite for flame and emissions improvement in novel combustor designs.
